Xavier Prats Monné

Xavier Prats Monné is the senior advisor for strategic initiatives of the Open University of Catalonia (UOC), and special advisor of Teach For All, a global non-profit organization whose mission is to expand educational opportunity around the world. He is the president of the Sant Pau Hospital in Barcelona (Spain) and of the Europe Committee of the King Baudouin Foundation in Brussels (Belgium). Board member of the Banco Sabadell Foundation and advisor to several non-profit organizations including Dones Mentores. He advises Astanor Ventures, a mission-driven impact investor focusing on the sustainability of food systems.

He previously served at the European Commission, including as Director-general for health and food safety, and Director-general for education and culture. He is from Spain, grew up in Rome, and is a social anthropologist by training.
