Christal Morehouse

Christal Morehouse was the Senior Program Manager for the Open Society Europe and Central Asia Program. She joined the Open Society Foundations in November 2015. Within the Open Society Foundation’s Europe and Central Asia Program (ECA), she is the Senior Program Manager in the Strategy and Strategic Outreach Pillar. Since she joined OSF, Christal has been responsible for a grantmaking portfolio of around 2 million USD annually.

From 2006 to 2015 Christal served as Senior Project Manager at the Bertelsmann Foundation in Germany, Brussels and Washington DC. During her over eight years at the organization, she conducted policy analysis and published on international higher education, talent, entrepreneurship, migration and integration. In 2006 she was the Head of Office for Prof. Dr. Rita Süssmuth, the former President of the German Bundestag. Prior to that, she was a Research Analyst for the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees, where she worked on the government-commissioned report on migration reform in Germany.

Dr. Morehouse completed her PhD in political science at the Humboldt University in Berlin in 2008. She holds a master’s degree in political science from the Free University in Berlin and a BA from Wittenberg University, USA. She was a Fulbright Scholar and is a descendant of Henry L Morehouse, namesake of Morehouse College, USA.
